INVITATION TO THE GLOBAL PANAFRICAN ROOTS-SYNERGY ROUND TABLE

May 25, 2022, World Africa Day, will mark the 10th anniversary that the Heads of State and Government of the African Union, the Caribbean and South America - in the presence of leaders of these regions and from Latin America and representatives of the African Diaspora from different regions of the Diaspora at the Global African Diaspora Summit in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa - witnessed the historic adoption of the Declaration of the African Union on the African Diaspora1.

Many Africans in the Diaspora, Pan-Africans, activists and disappeared have been waiting for decades for this pivotal moment of the adoption of the Declaration. A moment that was preceded by a large number of sessions over a series of years at the level of Heads of State and Heads of Government, as well as at the level of Ministers, senior officials and experts.< /p>

In order to achieve a coordinated, structured and coherent strategy in the different regions of the so-called "6th Region", many organizations have taken initiatives and are taking the opportunity to mobilize, motivate and organize their communities. This has translated into partnerships around the world with the aim of communicating in a targeted manner with the African Union on the different levels of concerns, wishes and expectations that have been identified during the various regional consultation conferences and finally included in the Declaration.

Following consultations with CIDO2 on what the African Union Commission intends to do on May 25, 2022, when the response was "no planning", African Diaspora Civil Society, Pan-Africanist and activist organizations have taken the initiative to organize this special round table on the 10th anniversary of the adoption of this important Declaration. This in collaboration with the CIDO.

What have we achieved since May 25, 2012? How is compliance with agreements assessed against identified areas of political, economic and social cooperation? of cooperation? This includes implementation and monitoring strategies:

In terms of integration into the various bodies of the African Union, issues related to repatriation and remigration? An upcoming Memorandum of Understanding between the African Union and the Caribbean Community. But is it enough? These are the issues of the next round table from May 23 to 28, 2022 that we will discuss to respond to the invitation of the African Union.

1. MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE ROUND TABLE

 Discuss the state of affairs regarding: the implementation of existing commitments to the African Diaspora; Diary 2063 & taken into account the developments concerning the ACFTA.

 Reach agreement on an African Diaspora resolution moving forward.

 Reach agreement on an Addis Ababa Diaspora Declaration Action Plan for forward.

2. ROUND TABLE TOPICS

The roundtable will provide analyzes that assess the collective needs in the different areas of concern of African people such as:

 The African Union's definition of the African Diaspora.

 The state of developments in perspective of the subjects mentioned in the various Paragraphs of the AU Declaration on the African Diaspora.

 Agenda 2063 and ACFTA

 Communication strategy with the African Union.

 Legal and Political Framework for the integration in the different Originating Bodies of the African Union.

 On human rights in general and in particular the fundamental human rights of Africans peoples and the implementation of the United Nations Durban Declaration and Program of Action. Issues related to the recent commemoration in September 2021 of the Durban Declaration and its Program of Action; the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent.

 Restorative and restorative justice.

 On the right of return: repatriation policies and facilities.

 All other topics mentioned while considering sustainability Development goals and among gender issues.

3. PARTICIPANTS

The Roundtable is intended for all interested Pan-Africanists, Activists, Scientists and Academics and will bring together participants from interested CSOs from the global African world as well as African Union diplomats and government officials from i.e.

4. FORMAT & METHODOLOGY

The roundtable will cover:

 Plenary sessions (opening speeches on the various topics of the round table)

 Working group sessions and results roundtables

 Editorial Board

5. EXPECTED RESULTS

 The roundtable will produce a declaration, a resolution and a report including an analysis of the situation by African Union Member State in the area of ​​a diaspora policy. This includes adopting an African Union-wide campaign for the right of return.

 A knowledge analysis and overview of the state of affairs with regard to the legal and policy framework that enables the African Diaspora to fully accept the invitation of the African Union, such as with regard to the interpretation of the Seats of the Diaspora in ECOSOCC.

The resolution of this roundtable will be submitted to the African Union Commission in cooperation with CIDO, AU ECOSOCC and ACDH.
